Renting a car is sometimes necessary, but just because a person is renting doesn’t mean the car can’t be any fun. If a person goes to select locations of Hertz, Porsche Panamera sedans can be rented for customers willing to pay the premium rates.
Hertz Porsche Panamera rentals add to stable of fun cars
Most of the time, a rental car is usually not going to be exactly the most exciting car to drive. Often enough, fuel efficient cars from domestic automakers. The Chevrolet Impala, for instance, is a perennial favorite among rental fleets. It’s certainly practical, as it’s quite spacious, as well as fuel efficient, as it gets up to 30 miles per gallon highway.

However, there are some more exciting cars available at major rental fleets. Hertz, for instance, has been renting Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Corvettes for some time, according to the Washington Post, but the company is adding a new sporty model to its roster. For customers in select states, Hertz Porsche Panamera rentals are going to start this month.
Only in three states
Unfortunately, only customers in California, Nevada and Florida and only in select locations in those states, are going to be able to rent a Panamera from Hertz, according to MSNBC. The car is being added to Hertz’s Prestige Collection, which according to the Washington Post includes cars from premium marques such as Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Lincoln and Infiniti.
Hertz isn’t the first company to offer a Porsche for rent. Enterprise, as fate would have it, has been renting luxury and sports cars for some time, including Porsches. Enterprise Rent-A-Car launched it’s Exotic Car Collection in 2008, according to Reuters, starting in Los Angeles.
The initial idea, according to the Wall Street Journal, was to cater to movie stars shooting on location, but eventually it caught on as discerning, or in other words very rich, customers in other cities wanted to be able to rent exotic sports cars and luxury cruisers. As of 2010, the Exotic Car Collection had also opened up shop in Atlanta, Ga.
Expensive cars mean expensive rentals
Hertz, according to MSNBC, will charge $250 per day to rent a Panamera. That is actually at the low end of exotic car rentals. Most rental agencies that rent out exotic cars are usually small firms that specialize in some of the most exotic cars there are, such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and even the odd Bugatti Veyron.
According to Jalopnik, exotic car owners often lend the cars to rental agencies to cover the absurdly high cost of ownership. Rates vary between agencies, but they are very high. According to the Wall Street Journal, Gotham Dream Cars, an exotic car rental agency that operates in New York City and Miami, was charging $2,250 for two days in a Ferrari F430. That is on top of a security deposit that can range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the car. A Porsche Panamera for $250 per day is a bargain and there are also two seats in the back.
