Suzuki was founded by Michio Maruti Suzuki in 1909, making it over a century old. The company started by building weaving machines before it moved into motors. The company slowly started creating prototype cars starting in 1937. The government decided that civilians didn?t need passenger cars right after World War II began leading to Suzuki stopping all production of vehicles. The company went back to creating weaving machines after the war, which was a great business since the U.S. government decided it was okay for cotton to be shipped to Japan. In 1951, the cotton market collapsed leaving Suzuki without income once again. Finally, the company got back into the swing of things a couple of years later. The company then started selling in many different countries. The vehicles are extremely popular now. Suzuki is the fourth largest automaker in Japan currently and the 9th largest automaker in the world by production volume.
