Hummer vehicles have been sold both by AM General and General Motors, although AM General is the original creator of the vehicle. The company was sold by AM General to General Motors eventually and is now completely dissolved. The vehicles are definitely worth buying because of their great durability and safety features.
History of the Hummer
In 1992, Hummer vehicles started to be created at AM General, which was creating only government vehicles until then. In 1999, the name was sold to General Motors. GM created its own vehicles at the time while AM General continued to create Hummers. AM General stopped creating these vehicles in 2006 after 14 years of business and 12,000 Hummers created and sold. General Motors continued to sell the cars (while trying to sell the name) until 2010 when it dissolved. Now, you can still get a Hummer vehicle, but it will be a used one.
What are they?
Hummer vehicles are the closest you can get to owning government vehicles. They were created for civilians who want to experience the durability of a car owned by the military. These massive SUVs are great for four-wheeling and going outdoors for camping or other activities. As one survey showed, most people that have owned a Hummer haven't actually gone off-roading with it. That means that your vehicle will be very solid and strong when you get it, making it that much more durable for your off-roading experiences. They are extremely safe too, which is a plus that many people considered when purchasing the vehicles. These SUVs have great airbag systems, Braking, traction control and other qualities. The cars have even on the TCA Fleet Safety Award at one point. These are great for anyone who likes an adventure and wants to feel safe while on it.
